Looking Back to Look Ahead

Earlier this last year, I wrote this blog post about setting “new frontier” goals and challenging yourself to achieve them. As the year came to an end, I started to think over how my 2016 went and a sunken feeling overwhelmed me. Why?  Well, because I did not achieve my “new frontier” goals. Not realizing that although I did not achieve what I considered “big goals”, 2016 was a great year due to several “little” (in my unwise opinion) milestones that I was blessed to attain.dpp_1437

One thing  I failed to realize when I wrote that post was that I was inattentive to an important element in setting and reaching your goals: The God Factor. Not that I relied completely on myself (well maybe sometimes) to make things happen, but I believe I could have been more inquisitive to find out what God had planned for me in 2016. dpp_1454

We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps. Proverbs 16:9

β€œMy thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lordβ€œAnd my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. Isaiah 55:8

This year, I began to truly understand the meaning of the phrase “by God’s grace”. If God does not allow something to happen, it can never happen. Now, looking back on the year 2016 with a different lens, I have to admit that what I considered “little milestones” are actually kind of a big deal πŸ™‚ For God to make it happen, it must be pretty important right? dpp_1458

That being said, I decided to take a different approach with my 2017 planning by asking the Author of my life what I should plan for in 2017. And guess what? He already started giving me some things to work on! dpp_1453

This is to encourage you if you feel like 2016 did not turn out like you planned; have you thought about the “little” milestones you were blessed to achieve? Count your blessings and remember: when there is life, there is hope!

  2. True words @Tols, it is always important to put God first above all we do, and he will guide our path.

Love your outfit by the way, kudos to the photographer ;D

  3. Girllllllll, that’s exactly where I am. I made all these “life changing” plans in 2016 and none of it came to pass. Now I feel God telling me that I should’ve been asking Him what His plans were for me instead of making plans on my own! Whew! What a lesson to keep learning over and over again…

Well, at least we’re making changes based on this instead of questioning God so cheers to a great 2017 where He will lead the way in everything we do. Happy holidays darling πŸ˜‰
