DIY: MOH duties in my Skater Dress

Hello Hello!

A few people have been  admiring and asking about the Peach Skater dress that I posted on my Instagram some weeks ago. For those that were asking where I got it from, the dress was a Tols Creations original. Yup!  Believe it or not, I did create this dress…lol . So a little story behind the creation of this dress…A friend asked me to be her Maid of Honor (MOH) for her wedding that was coming up in about 6 weeks. Although I was honored to accept the responsibility, I did not anticipate the expenses that came with this sort of thing, plus my bank account was not having it! Thankfully the Bride trusted me enough to allow me to make my own dress. We agreed on the style below and I got to work. img_20160914_172400

Now I have to admit I was not too confident about making this dress. See I usually sew with patterns and since I could not find a pattern for this dress, I had to get more creative which included some free-styling. Then there was the added pressure of making sure that my dress compared  in standard to the store bought bridesmaids dresses-its not just a dress I am making for myself, its also for someone’s wedding. Anyhoo, one fabric store visit and a few snips and stitches later (and several do overs), I finished the dress…2 nights before the wedding. I even added a little gem on the waistline for vavavoomness :-D…Here is the final product…img_20160820_134509

So what do you think? I really love the versatility of this dress: you can dress it up with heels or make it casual with flats.

Moral of the story: Never let your lack of confidence prevent you from attempting a challenging task. Until next time…

Remain Unapologetically (and fearlessly) Different,

Tols 😉
