RETROspective

Hello World!

In an effort to fine tune my sewing skills, I have resolved to sew one piece of clothing per week. So last week, I decided to look back while pressing forward 🙂 Since I am still a novice, I use patterns for my clothing creations. I tried out this McCalls Pattern for last week’s project. I attempted the A style.

Pattern
McCall’s “The Archive Collection” Circa 1963

I really enjoyed making this dress. There were not too many pieces, and the pattern was quite easy to navigate. Anyways, here is my rendition of the dress:

I really wanted to bring life to the dress, so I tried to go full on 60s with the layered pearls and the Mary Jane type shoes. IMG_6713

I kinda wished the skirt was more poofy, but i suppose the weight of the fabric also adds to it.  IMG_6722 IMG_6745

So what do you think? How would you have styled this look? Oops! I just realized, I did not take a back shot of the dress…sorry guys :-(.  In any case, you can purchase the pattern at your local fabric store and take a stab a it! I would like to see your rendition! IMG_6755
